· Power
consumption:
The average efficiency of the complete transmission unit, particularly
the average efficiency of the power amplifier, must increase at moderate
and low power levels to increase the battery life.
· Scalability:
The future generation of
wireless access networks
must be re-configurable, allowing multi-system operation. The
flexibility of multiple system operation must be accomplished with
minimum impact on the power consumption, footprint and cost of the
system.
· PCB
area:
Even higher level of
integration than today’s solutions, is needed to accommodate the
increasing functionality. The reduction the PCB area allocated to the
multi-standard radio transceiver in converged wireless device is
mandatory.
· BoM:
Reduction of the chip count and BoM associated with the semiconductor IC
are required.
